Importance of Holy Communion

Water Baptism is a one time commandment for the believer, while Holy Communion is the continuing commandment of Lord Jesus Christ to the visible church. Christ established this ordinance the night before His betrayal.

4 Importance of the ordinance of Lord's Supper:

1. It is a remembrance of Christ (1 Corinthians 11:24)

2. It is a proclamation of Jesus death on the cross for us (1 Corinthians 11:26)

3. It is an assurance of Christ's second coming (Matthew 26:29; 1 Corinthians 11:26)

4. It is a time of fellowship with Christ and His people (1 Corinthians 10:21)

3 Requirements to take part in it:

1. Only believers in Jesus Christ  can experience  and take part in Holy Communion (1 Corinthians 11:27-34)

2. Fellowship with a local church is important. Unrepentant believers under discipline are excluded from the Lord's supper (1 Corinthians 5:11-13; 2 Thessalonians 3:6, 11-15)

3. Cleansing before partaking that is asking the Lord for forgiveness of any sin committed knowingly or unknowingly. (1 Corinthians 11:27-32)
